Chess players from ten countries to participate in Karen Asrian Memorial

Representatives from ten countries have expressed desire to participate in Karen Asrian Memorial this year. A total of 57 chess players, including 15 grandmasters and 10 international masters will participate in the event which will be held in the Armenian city of Jermuk from June 16 to 24. Armenia will be represented by 36 chess players. Iran is second with seven participants, followed by Ukraine with four chess players. Ukrainian chess players Alexander Areshchenko and Zahar Efimenko have the highest rating. Aramn Pashikian, Zaven Andriasian, Robert Hovhannisyan, Karen Grigoryan, Levon Babujyan and Hovik Abrahamyan are the favorites among Armenian chess players. Indian Grandmaster Dronavalli Harika has the highest rating among female players. Players will compete in a Swiss system of nine rounds.
