It has been 70 years since the victory in the Great Patriotic War, but even today we experience the cruel challenges and the joy of victory our parents, grandmothers and grandfathers lived through. We remember and continue glorifying the heroes and passing the memories to our descendants. Within the frames of the events dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War, the exhibition of Armenian veterans’ paintings has been opened in the exhibition hall of the Artists’ Union. “For years we have celebrated this holiday together with the dozens of artists, who participated in the war,- says President of the Artists’ Union Karen Aghamyan,- but alas, the march of time is relentless.” Armen Atayan and Hmayak Bdeyan were present at this year’s event. “It was the year of graduating from Terlemezyan college, when the war broke out and I went to the front together with my teachers,- remembers 93-year-old Armen Atayan,- many artists didn’t return… glory to all those martyrs, due to whom we live today.” “When the cannons roar the muses are silent,” Hmayak Bdeyan remembers the years, when they replaced the brushes with arms. May 9 is a victory day, also the Day of Shushi Liberation and there are the paintings of young and older artists beside the paintings of the veterans.
