The Armenian government has transferred about 11 million drams to the account of the family of paralyzed soldier Gevorg Yeghiazaryan, a spokesperson for the Armenian Prime Minister, told A1+. In reply to A1+’s question how the money was raised, Gohar Poghosyan said Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan allocated money from his personal funds. Besides, the premier instructed the ministers to incur expenses of Gevorg Yeghiazaryan’s further treatment, but she does not know how the money was raised. According to our sources, employees of the ministries collected 2000 drams each, and heads of departments – 3000 drams each. Gevorg Yeghiazaryan received a gunshot wound at the military position in Martakert region while on duty at the border with Azerbaijan on December 27, 2011. In the past the Ministry of Defense already provided funding for Gevorg Yeghiazaryan’s treatment, but that course of therapy was not sufficient to get the 23-year-old back on his feet. Yeghiazaryan has been confined to bed ever since an Azerbaijani sniper’s bullet hit his spine. $ 56 000 is needed for his treatment abroad. Armenian citizens have already collected $ 43000 for the treatment.
