Haqqin.az says the state prosecutor has demanded 18 years in prison for Arsen Baghdasaryan, who is charged with committing a number of crimes, including subversive activities, against the state of Azerbaijan. Baghdasaryan was taken prisoner by Azerbaijani forces under yet unclear conditions. Baku immediately announced that he was part of an Armenian sabotage-reconnaissance group and was captivated after a failed attempt by the group to carry out subversive activities in the direction of Aghdam. In reply to official Baku, military authorities in Karabakh saidthat was a contract serviceman but denied any raid attempted into Azerbaijani-controlled territory. Moreover, they said ‘Baghdasaryan’s service had been suspended because of repeated disciplinary violations on his part, including regularly being absent without leave.’
