The May 3 parliamentary elections in the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR) were held with gross violations. The pro-government parties and their supporters distributed election bribes and forced voters to vote for them by using administrative resources, Vladimir Dolukhanyan, a candidate running in Sunday’s vote under the proportional ticket of the Artsakh National Revival party, told A1+ Company. Mr Dolukhanyan says harassment against members of his party started during the pre-election campaign. “The National Security Service and the police used pressure against citizens persuading them to vote for other parties. Attempts are being made to defame us among Artsakh residents; they want to form an opinion that we are Artsakh’s enemy, second-class citizens,” he said. Speaking about the positive opinion expressed by Armenian opposition figures [e.g. Hrant Baghratyan (Armenian National Congress - HAK) and Vahe Enfiajyan (Prosperous Armenia Party -BHK)] on the parliamentary elections in Artsakh, Vladimir Dolukhanyan said, “If they want the so-called ‘Artsakh democracy’ which is accompanied by the use of force and pressure, election bribes and use of administrative resources, become an example for Armenia, then I see no problem…People who speak positively about ‘Artsakh democracy’ are dilettanti.” He added that they have evidence about cases of deliberate voter fraud.
