Lawmaker Aragats Akhoyan thinks that Serzh Sargsyan cannot submit territorial claims on Turkey, as it will be a call for war. Cunning diplomatic steps are more preferable. “I think that before the claims the civil society of Turkey must get ready, which doesn’t imagine that they have learnt history, which doesn’t correspond with the reality.” According to the analysts, first person of the country has made a big omission in his recent statements by not reaffirming several provisions included in the Declaration. “Consistency is very important in politics, as steps are done in accordance with it,” notes Head of “Modus Vivendi” center Ara Papyan. The diplomat says that being a claimant doesn’t mean to demand territories, we must solve the problems of today’s Armenia with our claims. Aragats Akhoyan isn’t pleased with the claim ‘first of all let them recognize the Genocide after that we will pass to the claims’, “If we invested a small part of recognition resources in the issue of returning the property, we would have reached our goal.” Still at the beginning of the year the Economy Institute has started the calculations in order to show the losses Armenians suffered during the Genocide. Yet with the financing of the ARF the Research group of Armenian Genocide compensation has published a report, according to which the losses will amount to 50-104 billion dollars. More in the video
