10 young men are holding sit-down strike in Republic Square (video)
Ten young activists are holding sit-down strike in Republic Square holding the photos of several statesmen, who have been recently arrested. They are demanding to free Jirayr Sefilyan and his friends, “We are trying to speak out against the injustice, as most of our friends are currently in prisons for their political views. Each of us can be there and it is a way of struggle, due to which we are trying to interest people,” noted participant of the sit-down strike Shoghik Melkonyan. She regrets to say that people do nothing especially for those heroes, who once struggled for us and gained victory by endangering their lives. Activist was holding the photo of Gevorg Safaryan, about whom Shoghik says, “He is a young man, who fights and repressions have been used against him. He has been dismissed from his job for many times and has been hit with a blunt tool.” “Jirayr Sefilyan is the person, who spoke out that the regime has exhausted itself and our nation needs a new state. Now the reasons for which he is in prison are very ridiculous,” noted activist Ani Aslanyan. During the upcoming days they will continue their sit-down strike in different parts of the center.
