N. Zohrabyan: “If you want a headache to be doubled, take the medicine sold in our pharmacies” (video)
Today the NA has been discussing the law on qualification and certification of doctors. Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) faction secretary Naira Zohrabyan announced that her question didn’t relate to the discussed topic, but having a chance to address a question directly to the Minster of Health, she asked about the Institute of Oncology, which is under construction, “All we know about the awful conditions of the operating center. No one in our country will trust the specialists of that center. We can have the best buildings but not to trust the specialists.” Deputy asked the Minister what was done so that the new Center of Oncology would be a center providing high level of service, “The medicines of chemotherapy, which are brought from Europe and are distributed by only one-two companies, differ from the medication, which can be obtained in Europe, in their quality and effect.” Minister of Health Armen Muradyan answered that quite large processes are underway in terms of new center’s construction and organizational activities, “The operating center provides service to 20 000 patients , but the center needs modernization. This process is underway in the whole world. As in the whole world, the standards and guides are very important in medicine also in Armenia.” As to the medicines, the Minister noted that they would speak about it more in detail during the discussion of the law on medicines. But before that he assured that each medicine passes an examination. Naira Zohrabyan noted that especially during the recent months she had been engaged in those issues and she had found out that Armenian is among those three countries, where cancer is getting younger and is spreading especially among the children, “Don’t you think that there must be a national program against cancer. We have lack of specialists in that sphere. As to the medicines, even “Nurofen”, which has been brought from Europe, has completely different effect, but if we buy the same medicine in our pharmacies and if we have a headache, it will be doubled when taking the medicine sold in our pharmacies.” The Minister assured that there are screening programs, which are implemented through national programs and for example in case of cervical cancer, full and national program is implemented.
