Today at the NA the members of the Armenian delegation summed up the work of the PACE plenary sitting launched in Strasbourg on April 20. They were pleased with their work done at the PACE. President of the delegation, NA Vice President Hermine Naghdalyan noted that there were delegations, which announced that in the future they would also join the declaration on the Armenian Genocide. Member of the delegation, Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) deputy Arpine Hovhannisyan noted that the declaration called on all the delegates to express their attitude towards the genocides including the Armenian Genocide. During the days of the PACE sitting the members of the Armenian delegation distributed badges with forget-me-nots to Turkish delegates. “During informal talks they thanked me for the presents. The delegates of other countries were also given badges, the meaning of which were explained to them. Most of them wore the badges with forget-me-nots and took part in the exhibition dedicated to the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide which was held on April 23,” noted Arpine Hovhannisyan. Hermine Naghdalyan noted that there wasn’t any reaction by Azerbaijanis, “As to the Turkish delegation, when everyone including the Azerbaijanis stood up to pay tribute to the victims of the Genocide, only one representative of the Turkish delegation stood up (chairman of PACE Non-discrimination Standing Committee). According to our information, later that representative was reproached inside the Turkish delegation.” By the way, members of the delegation informed that on May 19 session of the PACE legal committee would be held in Yerevan.
