“Genocide was pre-planned operation, the aim of which was to destroy all the values,” says Cem Terzi, Turkish Professor of the Medical University of Izmir. It is unacceptable for him, that Turks, who were building a republic, didn’t recognize that crime, “And even now big work is carried out in order to deny and refuse the Genocide. And pressure is put on those, who fight for the recognition of the Genocide,” he highlights. Mr. Terzi is also a member of one of the associations of Turkey. He says that at present they work towards the elimination of hatred and establishment of friendship between the two nations. “Hundred years of silence of the Turkish people is unacceptable. We want the names of those Turks, who carried out the Genocide, to be removed from our streets and avenues. And we, as descendants of the nation, which carried out the Genocide, are obliged to remember and remind of it,” stressed Mr. Terzi. Cem Terzi thinks that the recognition of that fact is mandatory for the democratization of Turkey, “We call on Turkey to recognize the Genocide on a high level.” Asked whether Turkey will ever return the Armenian lands as a land compensation, Turkish Professor answers that in his own opinion, land does not belong to the states but belongs to the nations, “I think that in the future the Armenians will have a chance to live in those territories without any obstacles.” He is sure that due to Hrant Dink and people like him today’s reality will change. Turkish Professor started and ended his speech by apologizing to the Armenians for the Genocide, “We apologize by bowing our heads.”
