Members of the “Centennial without the Regime” movement held their planned rally in Erebuni district without their leaders. “If we fail to get out of the current situation, tomorrow we shall witness the continuation of the genocide, and the unfinished work of our age-old enemy will be completed by Armenians,” said Alek Yenigomshyan, a member of the Founding Parliament opposition movement. He says their jailed friends instill hopes in them, encouraging them to take decisive actions. “We announce that we shall achieve success and free our friends and that will be one of the first achievements in the process of unseating the authorities,” he said. Karabakh war veteran Susanna Margaryan added in turn that people who fought for Armenia’s freedom are imprisoned. The Founding Parliament is starting a sit-in on Saturday, April 25. Members of the Founding Parliament - Zhirayr Sefilyan, Pavel Manukyan, Garegik Chukaszyan, Varuzhan Avetisyan and Gevorg Safaryan -were arrested on April 7 on suspicion of planning to stir up ‘mass disturbances’ at the sites of genocide centenary commemorations on April 24. All were taken into two-month custody. Another Founding Parliament activist was charged with keeping arms and ammunition, but was released on bail pending trial.
