The Communist Party of Armenia (HKK) did not get insulted or worried when Serzh Sargsyan did not invite them to discussions over the constitutional amendments initiated by his government. “The HKK is a radical opposition and follows its course. We were not invited because we are not represented in the political arena. Maybe he [Serzh Sarsgayn] does not want to hear our opinion on the constitutional amendments. We find that amendments are untimely,” HKK First Secretary Tachat Sargsyan told reporters today. He says emigration is continuing and the HKK does not see the need of transferring power to the National Assembly. Speaking about the international recognition of the Armenian Genocide, Tachat Sargsyan said ‘Serzh Sargsyan has done everything possible for it.’ To confirm his words he reminded that on April 12 Pope Francis used the word “genocide” to describe mass killings of Armenians under Ottoman rule in WW1 100 years ago and also bestowed the prestigious Catholic title of “Doctor of the Church” on St. Gregory of Narek, a 10th century Armenian cleric renowned for his religious writings. The HKK representative says it is wrong to say that Kim Kardashian, a world-famous U.S. reality TV star of Armenian descent, with Armenian authorities, has done more for the international recognition of the Armenian Genocide that the authorities in Armenia. “We need not overestimate Kardashian’s actions and words. This comparison is inappropriate. Armenian authorities have done everything for the recognition of the Armenian Genocide,” said Tachat Sargsyan. At the end, he expressed hope that the Armenian Genocide will soon be recognized by Turkey.
