On April 26,100 dance bands with 5000 dancers will perform 3-minute mourning dance in the territory of Tsitsernakaberd Memorial in memory of innocent victims. The initiator is Dance Ensemble. “It will be a big event,” informed choreographer, Honored Art Worker Gagik Karapetyan. Besides, Gagik Karapetyana and Karen Gevorgyan, choreographer and Head of the Department of Choreography at the ASPU, expressed their concern over the issue of including dance in school curriculum. “We don’t have such professional base in Armenia in order to teach dance at schools,” highlighted Karen Gevorgyan. But the project has been already formed and approved by the committee, which includes Gagik Ginosyan, Artistic Director of “Karin” Traditional Song and Dance Ensemble. By the way, they weren’t included in the committee. “We learnt about the formation of the committee in the media.” “When they say that they must transfer the spirit of dance, must physical education teacher transfer that spirit, or maybe a librarian or a geography teacher? Dance must be taught by a professional,” said the specialist. Gagik Karapetyan highlighted that the path Mr. Ginosyan passed is worth our respect, but having a dance band is one thing, writing a project and including it in school curriculum is another.
