“We completely control the situation on the border”: Seyran Ohanyan (video)
We see tendency of continuous tension on the borders dictated by the adversary, Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan told “A1+” in the interview by adding that it doesn’t matter that the tension increases or decreases during different periods of time, “It is expressed by different types of violations. There have been violations since January, 2015- subversive penetration attempts, operations of snipers and the most recent violation, which happened in the NKR Defense Army, in the NKR Northern part- Martakert region on March 19. The DA vanguards were able to give a relevant response and made the rival retreat to their positions.” He thinks that during the recent days the number of shots has decreased, there have been no violations, “Maybe they are making corrections in their decisions or the experience shows that the relevant counterattacks by our servicemen reduce the vigor of the adversary’s vanguards and special units and they rest for some time. We completely control the situation on the border and Armenian servicemen are ready to carry out their military tasks professionally.” As to the step of the contract serviceman Andranik Grigoryan, who surrendered to the Azerbaijan side by waving a white flag, Seyran Ohanyan said, “A criminal investigation has been instituted, investigation is underway, it isn’t possible to find out fully the reasons why the Armenian serviceman crossed the border and surrendered to the adversary, as we must contact him and he can tell the problems he had. I think that during course of time the case will be revealed. Everything, which was shown on the Azerbaijani websites, is fake episodes, and it is evident that behind him our servicemen were following him while crossing the border and nothing like that happened.
