Raffi Hovannisian: I am not in despair

Heritage Party Leader Raffi Hovannisian continues Friday rallies at Liberty Square in Yerevan. Mr Hovannisian is not discouraged by the government’s crackdown on the Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) following the party’s calls for a regime change. “Those are minor errors, obstacle. But this is not the problem of the BHK, it is a symptom of our state,” Mr Hovannisian said. However, he regrets that the rally planned on February 20 did not take place. “We would not like our people to be disappointed again and say ‘They failed again.’ But I am not discouraged,” said the Heritage leader. Mr Hovannisian says a change of government is imperative today. “If we do not take steps, they will continue to pressurize political parties and one they will get to civil initiatives,” he said. “We do not want to live in this Armenia. We need the Armenia for which I raised our tricolor flag on March 2, 23 years ago on behalf of all generations. I believe that we shall live in that Armenia one day,” Mr Hovannisian said. Next week, the Heritage party will travel to regions to hold rallies there.
