HAK decide to use 'coded language' after Levon Ter-Petrosyan's speech in Liberty Square (video)

The coded speech of Armenian National Congress (HAK) Leader at Sunday’s rally has become a topic of heated political discussions in Armenia. “Let us use a coded speech like him [HAK Leader Levon Ter-Petrosyan],” says Vahram Baghdasaryan, Head of the Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) parliamentary faction. Addressing the crowd that gathered in Liberty Square on March 1 to mark the 7th anniversary of the 2008 post-election clashes in Yerevan, Levon Ter-Petrosyan said, “Riding a broom and with Putin's resignation under their breast, they reach Liberty Square and proclaim themselves as a new pole, sign a civil contract and then head to Baghramyan 26 to fulfill the slogan “100th anniversary without the regime.” Mr Baghdasaryan says the opposition forces can comment on Ter-Petrosyan’s words while the HHK can only draw conclusions. “The problem is that people who once had ideological resemblance and passed a long path together today are at loggerheads. On the other hand, there are people who have never had ideological affinity and today are joining around a definite idea. Let me cite the example of the opposition troika,” he said. Aragats Akhoyan, who recently terminated his membership with the Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK), says he did not understand who Levon Ter-Petrosyan’s meant in his speech in Liberty Square. “All these formulations are alien to me. For example, what does the phrase “100th anniversary without the regime” mean?” he said. In his speech, Levon Ter-Petrosyan also announced that if certain forces wanted to achieve a regime change more effectively and quickly [than the HAK], he was ready to donate them all his sanctioned rallies from March 2 to 16. “If they are able to unite and lead masses then they should follow the advice, otherwise they will prove that they are not capable of forming a new movement and replacing the radical opposition in Liberty Square, hence, they have no right to compare themselves with the first president,” said HAK lawmaker Lyudmila Sargsyan.
