Three seats vacant in Public Council

By a Feb. 27 decree of the Armenian President, Smbat Lputyan and Edik Minasyan were appointed members of the Public Council to replace its former members Khosrov Harutyunyan and Vladimir Movsisyan. The other three seats will be filled in compliance with the PC regulations. The Public Council has 36 members and 12 area committees. Twelve members are appointed by Armenian President. They are tasked with setting up the 12 area committees.  Over 1200 non-governmental organizations delegate about 2000 representatives to those committees. At their sessions the committees elect chairpersons who become other 12 members of the Public Council. The last 12 members are elected by 24 members the Public Council in a secret ballot.
