The possibility of forming a coalition government with the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) does not leave the ARF-Dashnaktsutyun at peace.  However, Dashnaktsutyun is still waiting for the government to meet its seven-point demands, Head of the ARF-Dashnaktsutyun faction Armen Rustamyan said on FridayS. He reminded that the meeting between Serzh Sargsyan and [Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) Leader] Gagik Tsarukyan was held thanks to the efforts of his party. In reply to a journalist’s question whether he found the results of the meeting ‘democratic’ given the developments following the meeting, Mr Rustamyan said, “Under the circumstances, we consider it the best result.” After the meeting with Serzh Sargsyan held on February 17, Gagik Tsarukyan disappeared from the political arena; moreover, many expected him to resign as BHK Leader. Head of the Heritage parliamentary group, Ruben Hakobyan says the political domain ‘has become barren.’ He advises the Republicans not to get too much excited as ‘sooner or later people and the opposition will come back to their senses.’ “The devil is not as frightening as it is believed to be,” he said. Mr Hakobyan does not rule out changes in the opposition camps. At the same time, he stresses that none of the opposition forces will be able to unseat the authorities alone. “No matter how talented and strong that force is, it cannot give an adequate response to the ruling regime which is resorting to repressive measures,” he stressed. Levon Zurabyan, head of the Armenian National Congress (HAK) faction, admits that the authorities were able to ‘remove the BHK off their way with threats and attacks but their quietness will not last long. “All actions of the acting regime are doomed to failure and they are leading the country to a final collapse.” “Has anything happened to the regime?” wonders Republican Vahram Baghdasaryan. “Everything is all right and we are in a quite stable situation.” The Republican lawmaker says the authorities are also concerned about the country’s future.  “We are working so that we can eventually have an opposition in the political sense of the word.”
