BHK lawmakers quit party over dispute with HHK
Karo Karapetyan, a member of the Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) has submitted an application to withdraw from the party.
In a letter addressed to Parliament Speaker Galust Sahakyan, Karo Karapetyan [nicknamed Yuvetsi Karo] said he did not want to participate in processes leading to internal political tensions that do not stem from the interests of the country’s national security.
While the lawmaker said he decided to terminate his membership with the BHK, he would continue his work in the National Assembly as a non-partisan lawmaker. Another BHK lawmaker, Aragats Akhoyan, announced the termination of his party membership earlier on Monday citing the same reasons behind his decision.
