9 cases of physical violence against journalists recorded by CPFE
2014 annual report of the Committee to Protect Freedom of Expression on the freedom of expression in Armenia and violations of rights of mass media: Following the situation in the area of freedom of expression and studying the conditions of activities of mass media and journalists, the Committee to Protect Freedom of Expression continues recording the cases of violations of their rights. The total number of such facts decreased in 2014 compared with 2013- 77 and 65. Yet, this year’s data is also alarming: in 2014 the CPFE recorded 9 cases of physical violence against journalists, 43 facts of pressure on mass media and their employees, 13 cases of violation of the right to receive and impart information.
