What is going on here has nothing to do with justice, French attorney Marie Laure Dosé, who is defending Armenian actor, comedian Vardan Petrosyan’s interests in court. She said in France you cannot find cameras or recorders in courtrooms and journalists participate in two out of ten court sessions. During today’s court hearing the aggrieved party announced that Petrosyan’s lawyer Nikolay Baghdasaryan had asked them to keep silent and offered them money, which was denied by the defender. “I am deeply sorry for the accident. The loss of the two children is irreversible,” Vardan Petrosyan said in his speech. hen he recalled Tolstoy's novel"Resurrection" which tells about the judicial system of the Tsarist Russia. In one of the episodes, a villager was jailed for 4 years for felling two trees. In another story, a landlord was appointed governor of Siberia for a grave crime. Petrosyan was taken to jail in connection with the deadly road accident on October 20, 2013, in which his BMW collided with another vehicle, Niva, on the Yeghvard-Yerevan highway. Two Niva passengers were killed in the crash. Petrosyan himself was among the injured people who were hospitalized that night. Petrosyan was soon taken into custody and charged with “negligent breach of traffic rules, which causes death.”  If convicted, Petrosyan faces a sentence of 4–10 years in prison.
