Political analyst: EEU remains a political structure for Putin (video)
Azerbaijan is not going to join the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU). Even though the EEU with its economic potential does not interest Azerbaijan, our neighbors do not exclude that one day they may be forced to join the Union. Political analyst Stepan Grigoryan can always produce his counterarguments when they announce that the EEU is an economic union. “At least, it remains a political one for Putin,” he says. The political analyst doubts the longer-term viability of the Eurasian Economic Union which will be effective starting January 1, 2015. Avaz Hasanov, Director of the Society for Humanitarian Research NGO, says the formal nature of the CIS gave birth to the EEU. The repetition of the Ukrainian scenario is another concern for the two countries. Political parties in Azerbaijan do not hope that changes may become reality in Azerbaijan.
