Protest against price hikes ends in Yerevan (video)

Social
action2

The protest action held by a group of citizens against the increased prices of basic foodstuffs and other essentials which is ascribed to the recent fluctuations of currency exchange rates has ended outside the Government building. The group decided to hold the next protest at Liberty Square on December 24. The devaluation of the Armenian dram has driven commodity prices in Armenia to rise by 15 to 20 percent in recent days. Prices for grains have surged by up to 40 percent.  The U.S. dollar continued its appreciation against the dram until Tuesday, hitting its record high in the last few years. On Tuesday, it traded at 550-560 drams.
