Today Center for the Arabic language has been opened at Yerevan State Linguistic University after V. Brusov with the support of Egypt Embassy in Armenia. On this occasion university students organized an event dedicated to Arabic culture, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Egypt to Armenia Mohamed Elleissy partook in it. In the conversation with us he said, “The opening of the center of the Arabic language will have positive impact on the long term friendship of Armenia and Egypt and Armenian students have big desire to learn Arabic. Every year 6 students from Armenia take part in the courses of the Arabic language, which are held in Egypt for several months. For many years Armenian community situated in Egypt speaks Arabic very well.” There is also a satellite in the auditorium, which gives opportunity to watch 700 Arabic TV channels. We remind that the UNO celebrates Arabic Language Day on December 18 since 1975, when Arabic was recognized the sixth official language of the UNO.
