Armenian lavash included in UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage list.

Armenian bread Lavash has been included in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2014 during the Movember 26 meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee for Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage that took place at UNESCO Headquarters in Paris Lavash, the preparation, meaning and appearance of traditional bread as an expression of culture in Armenia” has been included in the list.The Committee decided that this element submitted in 2013 satisfies the criteria for inscription on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The List of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Need of Urgent Safeguarding is composed of intangible heritage elements that concerned communities and States Parties consider require urgent measures to keep them alive. Inscriptions on this List help to mobilize international cooperation and assistance for stakeholders to undertake appropriate safeguarding measures. During the period from 2009 to 2013, the Committee inscribed 35 elements on this List. Lavash is the fourth cultural element presented by Armenia that is included in the list.
