Statement of the MFA of Armenia as an official document of the General Assembly of UNO
The statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia, in which it strongly condemns the shooting down by the armed forces of Azerbaijan of an Mi-24 helicopter of the Nagorno-Karabakh Defence Army, during a training flight, has been circulated as an official document of the General Assembly and Security Council of UNO. The statement reads: “We strongly condemn the shooting down by the armed forces of Azerbaijan of an Mi-24 helicopter of the Nagorno-Karabakh Defence Army, during a training flight. Before and after every high-level meeting on the resolution of the issue, Baku has been resorting to new provocations to undermine the negotiation process and the efforts of Armenia and the international community aimed exclusively at a peaceful settlement of the conflict. The Azerbaijani side is grossly violating the commitments on the peaceful resolution of the conflict reached during the recent summits. Such a criminal provocation demonstrates that Baku is not only ignoring the appeals by the Co-Chair countries of the Minsk Group of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe and the international community for the non-use of force, the consolidation of the ceasefire and the implementation of confidence-building measures, but is also acting contrary to them and bears full responsibility for the escalation of the situation.”
