Mayor's brother elected mayor in Hankavan community
Residents of Hankavan community in Armenia’s Kotayk region elected a community head on Sunday, November 23. Shahen Hakobyan, the only candidate vying for the post, won in the snap elections. Forty-nine of the 92 eligible voters went to the polls to cast votes for Hakobyan, the Central Election Commission reports. Shahen Hakobyan is not only the deputy mayor of the community but also the brother of former mayor Hakob Hakobyan, who resigned because of health problems.
