The Administrative Court of Armenia is to announce its verdict today in the case failed by the Armenian Police against Argishti Kiviryan, an analyst, coordinator of ARMENIA Today news website. Argishti Kiviryan is charged with using violence against a representative of the authorities. The charges stem from an August 24, 2013 demonstration against a controversial construction in 5 Komitas Avenue in Yerevan where Kiviryan was involved as a protester. The Special Investigation Service said the activist did not obey the lawful demand of a police officer and while being brought to the police station used violence against a police officer that did not threaten his health. Kiviryan also intentionally hurt himself in a police car while being taken to a police department and allegedly threatened to ascribe his injuries on his face to police actions.
