Hardly had the court hearing of the high-profile case involving former employees of Armenia’s state pension fund started when the sitting was adjourned. Judge Arshak Vardanyan announced that the father of defender Hovhannes Grigoryan had died and the latter had been sent home for four days, Aravot.am reports. More than 50 individuals, including the former head of Armenia’s Social Welfare Service Vazgen Khachikyan, have been prosecuted in the inquiry ordered by state prosecutors in May 2011.  Khachikyan and 12 other former officials went on trial in February 2013. They were accused of misappropriating about 377 million drams in public funds.
