Today the Armenian language has been in contradictory condition in the National Assembly. He and Naira Zohrabyan know English, but they preferred to deal with Europeans in the official language of Armenia. Mher Shahgeldyan doesn’t know English, but he knows French. He also spoke Armenian. “Even in case of French in the presence of translator I would speak Armenian,”- he said. There is no need for such formality in Armenian-Russian interparliamentary group. Vice President of the National Assembly Hermine Naghdalyan is speaking Russian. Meeting participant Levon Martirosyan doesn’t consider it to be strange that Armenian high-ranking state official speaks foreign language in the territory of Armenia during carrying out his working responsibilities: “Most of our partners including me, speak Russian very well and there is no need to speak any other language.” “There have been simultaneous translation during the whole session,”- says Hermine Naghdalyan. Russian State Duma representative, National hero of Armenia Nikolay Rizhkov warns, there are about 2.5 million Armenians in Russia, Armenians and Russians are brothers, want to speak Russian, speak, if no, it’s your business: “I would recommend you not to retire as there is globalization outside.”
