Lawmaker of the opposition-leaning Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK) Stepan Margaryan says the rallies held by the three opposition forces on October 10 and 24 had national significance otherwise they would not be well-attended and would not lead to a change of situation. “Both rallies have shown that there is a deep gap between the public and the government and the authorities do not care at all to fill that gap. The dynamics of the events and the number of ralliers showed that people trust the opposition trio and the issues raised by the three forces,” he said. The lawmaker says the authorities have exhausted themselves radical changes are needed in the country; it is necessary to form new-quality government through early elections.  Commenting on the statement BHK Leader Gagik Tsarukyan made during the October 24 rally, Stepan Margaryan said their primary aim is to change authorities in Armenia. “A power change implies a change of officials on all levels. We are forming headquarters of activists throughout Armenia. We are going to increase the pressure on the authorities because they demonstrate an inadequate stance to all issues and problems raised by the opposition.  They are either unable to solve them, or deliberately neglect the problems,” he said. The BHK lawmaker says by increasing pressure they will force the authorities to solve the existing problems and amend the Electoral Code, which, in turn, will result in new elections.
