Fifteen year after the 1999 terrorist attack on the Armenian parliament we have as much information [about the tragedy] as 15 years ago, says Ashot Sargsyan, who represents the interests of Demirchyan's family. Should authorities demonstrate political will, it will be possible to achieve significant achievements in the revelation of the crime, he says. “If we compare the case material with the trail material we can say that there are great opportunities to continue the investigation. But if the authorities do not show interest, how can the legal successors disclose the case?” said Mr Sargsyan. The attorney says he has filed three motions which were accepted by the investigation body but were not granted.  “One of them refers to the weapons of the gunmen who stormed into the parliament on October 27, 1999. I am convinced that the weapons were already in parliament before their arrival,” he said. Speaking about the mysterious deaths of the October 27 victims Mr Sargsyan said he did not see anything unusual in it: as years pass by, people may get sick and die.  At the same time he advised working with the other witnesses as they can forget important details about the case in the course of time. Ashot Sargsyan believes that the case can be disclosed after the authorities are changed in the country. A change in power, however, is possible if three people – brothers Nairi Hunanyan and Karen Hunanyan and Edic Grigoryan, either commit suicide or die unexpectedly.
