The preliminary investigation of Vernisazh shootings case finished on October 8, but the indictment wasn’t confirmed and the case wasn’t sent to the court. This was informed to A1+ by defendant Norayr Melkonyan’s Advocate Varduhi Elbakyan. According to her words, after examining the materials she was convinced that there is no evidence supporting the guilt of the defendant. Norayr Melkonyan was charged under the Criminal Code Article 258- hooliganism. We remind that on May 17 near Vernisazh, NA BHK Deputy Karo Karapetyan’s son-in-law- Gor Arakelyan argued with Nerses Melkonyan and Valery Hovhannisyan. As a result of shootings following the argument 5 people were injured- Valery Hovhannisyan and his friend- Nerses Melkonyan and also casual passers-by. Gor Arakelyan, Valery Hovhannisyan and Nerses Melkonyan are imprisoned. Gor Arakelyan is charged for attempt of murder, keeping illegal arms and ammunition, causing serious injuries to two or more people and causing medium gravity injury to one person. But Gor Arakelyan’s Advocate doesn’t agree with the charges and insists that it was self-defense.
