Inhabitants of iron house sleep in turn

Yerevan residents sheltered in an iron domik (temporary house) in Nerkin Charbakh district live in dire conditions. Three days ago, the elder daughter of the family, who is 17 years old, got married leaving hers studies unfinished. Their little daughter doesn’t attend a kindergarten while their son, Vahe, attends a special school. The family moved into the house after the birth of the third child. “Before that we lived in a rented house but we could not afford the rent. When our third baby was born, the state gave us AMD 370 000. We gave 360.000 of the sum to but this house,” tells Angela Grigoryan. The domik is placed on a site where a stream was flowing once; there are many rats, snakes and scorpions in the neighbourhood.  The site fills with water when the neighbours begin to irrigate their gardens. The inhabitants of the iron house sleep in turn for fear that rats and snakes might crawl in.
