Today the Government approved “RA- “About the EEU”, joining the treaty on May 29” agreement draft. When the agreement is empowered, Armenia will become EEU member. It is intended that Armenia will sign membership agreement on October 10. Transitional provisions, imported products and rates list are defined by the agreement. Only 750 products will be exceptions. RA producers and businessmen union head Arsen Khazaryan thinks that the fact will preserve our market from possible shocks, inflations. Urban development Minister Narek Sargsyan was not familiar with agreement draft but he thinks that only his filed will have importing problems: “We can export our non metallic construction products.” The NA Deputy Khachatur Kokobelyan thinks that no treaty will be signed on October 10. He is sure that the EEU is an economic challenge for us and will bring no good: “Day by day that union is going from international economy to economic isolation headed by Russia.” Khachatur Kokobelyan thinks that first foreign investments will suffer and they will be reduced. HHK Deputy Gagik Minasyan thinks that there is much possibility that Armenia will become the EEU member on January 2, 2015: “The next step will take place on October 10.” Gagik Minasyan notes that last year on September 3, after Serzh Sargsyan’s announcement on the CC membership, our country has already got some privileges connected with gas price, raw diamonds, petroleum products. What relates to western punishments toward the RF, Mr. Minasyan thinks that it is difficult to do predictions: “It is considered that the direction of developments will be changeable till spring of the next year. We do not risk, we follow our interests. The interest is not only economic as there are also security issues, which are very important for us.” What relates to turnover with the EU, Mr. Minasyan reminds that Armenia will be the only country in the EEU, which has “GSP+” status. “It allows exporting a large quantity of products to EU member countries without any restrictions. I think that this opportunity will be attractive not only for us, but also for other businesses of the CC member countries, especially in case of those sanctions.”
