Syrian Armenian Mike has fulfilled his childhood dream of visiting his homeland. “We were surprised to find out that local Armenians and Diaspora Armenians think in different ways,” he says. Mike moved Armenia from Aleppo two years ago. He says he is gradually getting adjusted to the Armenian lifestyle, but he cannot put up with the terms in the business sector. “I admit that each country has its own terms and conditions but people need a little help…You have to pay the same amount of money, no matter you earn $1000 or $10 000,” he says. Mike opened a jewelry store in Yerevan but had to close it soon due to its ‘poor trading.’ Today he trades in Vernissage, a large open-air market in the centre of Yerevan.
