Seyran Saroyan offers his colleagues to vote like gentlemen

The non-governing minority in Armenia’s parliament today condemned the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (HHK) for thwart t yesterday’s special session on controversial new taxation rules. This angered Republican Seyran Saroyan, who said, “Let us not refer to the law on sales tax again. Let people go and work peacefully. We all care for people. Let us vote like gentlemen without any consultations.” During today’s sitting, Parliament Speaker Galust Sahakyan announced that a meeting with parliamentary factions was planned to be held at 1.30 p.m. The sitting has been interrupted due to technical defects. MPs were unable to vote. The opposition forces called the special session following the demand of hundreds of small traders who have been protesting the new law that comes into force today, October 1. Hundreds of small business owners have staged a series of street protests against the requirement of the law, saying they cannot they cannot comply with it.
