The three major opposition parties, Prosperous Armenia Party (BHK), the Armenian National Congress (HAK) and Heritage, are holding rallies in a number of cities in Armenia ahead of their joint rally announced for October 10. the three forces have issued a statement condemning the decision of Ararat Mayor not to authorize the opposition's upcoming rally in the city. "All eight municipalities have accepted the formal notification of the three parties, with the exception of Ararat Mayor.  The latter did not reply to those who presented the rally notification in a manner stipulated by law, and then explained the refusal by grounds not provided by law. We did not find any poster or application announcing about another authorized event scheduled for October 3 at the Municipality neither during the submission of documents nor in later days. We challenged the Mayor’s actions in court but the latter did not satisfy the claim citing certain inaccuracies in the bid.  By law, the Municipality was to inform the applicant about the inaccuracies found in the letter and was to give us a reasonable period of time to correct the inaccuracy. Thus, in the face of Ararat Mayot and the court, we are dealing with  clear illegalities and a political order. Based on the aforesaid, we consider our bid to hold a rally in V. Sargsyan Square in Ararat on October 3 as accepted," reads the statement.
