Should Armenia join the Customs Union? The question was asked to the residents of Armenia’s Vanadzor city. Most of the respondents gave the same answer. “Everything will be OK, if we join with Russians,” “I like Putin and I believe that he will not do us harm,” they said. Armenia should cooperate with Russia as many young Armenians are working in Russia today. After Armenia’s accession to the Eurasian Economic Union, the situation will better in Armenia. "Now we are independent, on the other hand, we are dependent on Russia,” said another resident. Everyone is leaving for Russia today, as they cannot find a job in Armenia. “I have four children and all of them are working in Russia. All factories are shut down here [in Vanadzor],” said a third citizen. Only one of our respondents disagreed with her co-citizens. “Armenia’s future lies in the hands of our people. Neither the Customs Union nor Europe can help us,” she said.
