The Court of Criminal Appeals today rejected the complaint filed by two media outlets – Hraparak daily and ilur.am. They were disputing the decision of a lower court which ruled that the media outlets must reveal the source of their information about a police officer’s illegal actions addressed to wrestler Artur Aleksanyan and his brother Rafayel Aseksanyan. It came after Hraparak daily and ilur.am website  published information that Shirak Police Chief Vardan Nadaryan had attacked the wrestler and his brother. Vardan Nadaryan later refuted the reports saying they were false. “We shall wait for the decision of the Cassation Court and decide on our future actions,” Armine Ohanyan, editor-in-chief of Haraparak daily, told A1+.unacceptable for a media outlet to reveal its source of information. “First, we cannot put these people in danger because we can imagine what might happen to them once they are identified. Second, we do not want to lose public trust; people will continue to cooperate with us in the future and their information is really valuable for us,” she continued. Armine Ohanyan says 'they have one goal,' “They do not want us to poke our noses into dangerous affairs. They want us to understand that we cannot publish information that is restricted or banned by state agencies. They also want to frighten the people who work with journalists,” she said.
