“Is Turkish investigation composed of Hollywood action movies’ heroes?”
Today Turkey announced that Turkish Consulate employees in Mosul, who were captured on June by “Islamic state”, were transferred into Turkey. 49 people, diplomats and their families, were moved to Urfa, where they were met by Prime Minister Davutoglu. The return of captives into Turkey is of much interest, but the way it has been done is more interesting: turkologist Gevorg Petrosyan reflects on this issue on his Facebook page. “If we believe in official position of Turkey, the captives were freed by Turkish intelligence service, says the turkologist. But he thinks that many questions arose. It is mentioned that the captives and their families returned safe and sound. Here a question arises, “Is Turkish investigation composed of Hollywood action movies’ heroes, that it manages to take such actions in a foreign country that 50 people are freed safe and sound? We must note that they were captured by “Islamic state”, which couldn’t hand in the captives without fight. So the handing is more like an agreement between Islamic state and Turkey, rather than brave actions of Turkish intelligence.”
