We must be armed with patience: all will become clear, and Levon Hayrapetyan will be released, the chairman of the Union of Armenians of Russia told reporters on Friday. Ara Abrahamyan is convinced that the 2,5 million Armenians who live in Russia are worried about the fate of the jailed businessman. “We're all taking steps. I was not in the country. I have just arrived and I'll see what I can do. We are all aware that Hayrapetyan has health problems and our primary task is to arrange his return to his family,” he said. Mr Abrahamyan stressed that Levon Hayrapetyan had greatly contributed to Armenia and Nagorno Karabakh. “He [Levon Hayrapetyan] is an active and patriotic philanthropist. Now it's time that we help him.” Levon Hayrapetyan was detained on July 15. A few days later, a court in Moscow issued an arrest warrant for him and chose a two-month arrest as a measure of restraint. Later, the 65-year-old businessman was officially charged with embezzlement and illegal money laundering by a Russian investigative body.
