Today it became known that the Armenian Revolutionary Federation –Dashnaktsutyun will not participate in the rally to be held by the non-governing forces on October 10. When asked to explain their decision given the differences over the government-proposed constitutional reforms, head of the Dashnaktsutyun faction in parliament Armen Rustamyan said ‘we have always spoken in favour of reports: It is our primary demand.’ Speaking about their stay in the opposition quartet and the party’s future plans, Mr Rustamyan advised waiting until October 15 –the publication of the concept of the constitutional reforms. On that day, it will become known whether the government has accepted Dashnaktsutyun’s demands or not. Asked whether Dashnaktsutyun can eventually make a coalition with the ruling Republican Party of Armenia (HHK), Mr Rustamyan said they had posed seven demands to the authorities: they agreed on one issue and had serious disagreements on the other six issues, which means that the party remains in opposition. Dashnaktsutyun has submitted its proposals to the government which exclude Serzh Sarkisian’s participation in the decision-making process of the future government. They also take measures to exclude election rigging and corruption, putting primary emphasis on human rights.
