The Russian Investigative Committee has announced the arrest for suspected money laundering of one of that country's richest men, AFK Sistema head Vladimir Yevtushenkov. "There are reasonable grounds to believe that the legalization [laundering] of property acquired by criminal means involvcan remain unemployeded the chairman of the board of directors of AFK "Sistema" Vladimir Yevtushenkov," the Investigative Committee said in a statement. "Today, his is charged with the legalization [laundering] of money..." Russia-based Armenian businessman and philanthropist Levon Hayrapetyan was also arrested within the framework of this case. Last week new charges were levied against him and a Moscow court rejected the motion to review his restraint. Law-enforcement agencies in Russia say that in 2008 when buying Bashneft Company, Sistema made a number of violations. In July, a Moscow court froze Bashneft's stock under a money-laundering probe. The most interesting is that Yevtushenkov is the ‘boss’ of Armenia’s second President Robert Kocharyan. In one of his interviews, Kocharyan said he had been employed by a Russian company and would work in Russia. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Sistema Company which is headed by Vladimir Yevtushenkov. It is naturally unpleasant when a company where you work appears in such an awkward situation. There is a chance you might lose your job and stay unemployed. If this happens, the second president might want to come back to Armenia and even return to power, 1in.am reports.
