500 thousands dollars for Victor Hambardzumyan award (video)
It is already several years on September 18, Viktor Hambardzumyan’s birthday, Astrology Day is celebrated in Armenia. This year besides various events, Viktor Hambardzumyan award is also intended. “On the 100th anniversary of Viktor Hambardzumyan, a prize named after him was set and tomorrow the President of the country will hand in the prizes to three winners. One of them is an Armenian living in the USA, the second is Russian and the third is German. The international committee selected the winners,”- informed Byurakan observatory director Hayk Harutyunyan. He thinks that this ceremony has big importance and can later open big opportunities for young astrologists, “We expect that the winning countries will finance our young astrologists. At the same time the award intends to increase the image of Armenia.” Mr. Harutyunyan informed that the observatory is under construction, “We have the biggest telescope in the region, which has special importance and role for research. Now that telescope is renovated and repaired, it will bring our observatory into international level.” By the way, the state provided 500 thousands dollars to the awarding ceremony.
