Republican MP Sukias Avetisyan today spoke about media reports which allege that after its accession to the Customs Union Armenia will be deprived of the right to vote for a year. He said it is envisaged by the Eurasian Economic Union charter which will be eliminated soon. The Republican lawmaker says Armenia is likely to become a full-fledged member of the union by mid-October after settling with all parties technical problems and completing negotiations. Sukias Avetisyan believes that the accession to the Customs Union will be useful for Armenia from economic and political aspects. Speaking about the constitutional reforms in Armenia, the member of the ruling party said, the issue had been discussed at his party’s sitting and they found the reforms urgent at this moment; they want to make the working Constitution human-centered. The constitutional reforms aim to settle problems in different areas, he stressed. Gurgen Yeghiazaryan, former deputy director of National Security Service, supports the parliamentary system of government but he says it is impossible to switch to the model now because of the lack of flawless elections in the country. Gurgen Yeghiazaryan agrees with some opinions expressed by the second president [Robert Kocharyan] in his recent interview. He agrees that the country should be freed from leeches.
