Prison official demands bribe for transferring inmates
Citizen Zhora N. reported that the official in charge of conducing a special service of “Nubarashen” Criminal-Executive Institution of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia in 2009 claimed and received from him a substantial amount of bribe for transferring his two sons, who are in custody in the same institution, to “The Hospital of the Convicted.” A criminal case has been instituted based on the materials prepared in the Special Investigation Service in accordance with Paragraph 2, Part 4 of Article 311 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Armenia. A preliminary investigation is under way, SIS press service reports. The suspect or the accused of the alleged offence is deemed innocent since his or her innocence is not proved by virtue of the effective court verdict in the manner prescribed by the Criminal Procedure Code of the Republic of Armenia.
