"We are the Owners of this City" civil initiative signals that trees are being uprooted in the Armenian capital in an attempt to turn the last green space in Yerevan into a concrete-coated area. “Residents of Yerevan’s Nor Nork district filmed on Tuesday a bulldozer uprooting trees in the forest near the so-called Water Land - a water park situated on Myasnikyan Avenue of Nor Nork district in Yerevan. This illegal felling is taking place under the patronage of Yerevan Mayor Taron Margaryan. The destruction of the last green space – the lungs of Nor Nork district – can lead to the creation of unbearable conditions for human life. Officials at Nor Nork administrative district have announced that a playground will be built on the site,” the initiative said in a statement. "We are the Owners of this City" calls on the relevant bodies to remove the bulldozers from the forest, punish those guilty of the felling and restore the plant species of the green space. The initiative is ready to publish the clarification of the City Hall, if necessary.
