Yerevan Court to announce verdict in Volodya Avetisyan's case July 17
A Yerevan court is scheduled to announce today its verdict in a fraud case that involves retired army colonel Volodya Avetisyan. Judged Levon Avetisyan has retired to a meeting room to reach a verdict. Before that defendant Volodya Avetisyan was given an opportunity to present a closing argument. In his speech, the colonel said he was not guilty of the charges leveled against him and blamed the acting regime for his arrest. Volodya Avetisyan reiterated that he had been offered freedom provided that he stopped struggling against the regime. “They cannot stop me,” he said. His military friends and the presentees accompanied him with tumultuous vociferations, “Hero!”
