The preliminary investigation of the criminal case instituted with regard to the theft committed through illegal intrusion into the apartment by the officer of “Hrazdan” Criminal-Executive Institution of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Lernik Melkonyan has ended in the Special Investigation Service of the Republic of Armenia. The preliminary investigation revealed that Lenik Melkonyan, the officer of “Hrazdan” Criminal-Executive Institution of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia on December 4, 2013 between 20:00 and 21:00, through an open window illegally broke into the private residence located in one of the villages of Gegharkunik region and secretly stole a mobile phone and notebook by causing an essential amount of property damage to the victim A. M. In addition, on January 19, 2014 at about 22:30 Lernik Melonyan illegally broke into the apartment located in the region stated above, secretly stole a notebook by causing an essential amount of property damage to the victim G. G. It should be pointed out that an arrest as a measure of restraint was determined in respect of Lernik Melkonyan in the pre-trial procedure who is accused of having committed a theft in two episodes. The investigator accomplishing the preliminary investigation has handed over the criminal case along with the indictment to the public prosecutor in charge of exercising the judicial management for it to be approved and referred to the court, the SIS press service reports. A person suspected or accused of an alleged crime is presumed innocent until proved guilty in the procedure established by the Criminal Procedure Code of RA by the effective court judgement.
